Robotics at LHSN!
Lutheran North is adding to its already extensive extra-curricular program by starting up a Robotics Club. On Aug. 25, all students were invited to the Crusader Cafe to see a FIRST Technology Challenge (FTC) recruitment demonstration. Two established teams – Worm Gear Warriors from Edwardsville High School and Cyber Ducks from Marquette High School – set up their robots and showed what they can do. They explained what robotics is all about, fielded questions, and let the Crusaders try their hand at operating the robots.
FIRST Tech Challenge gives middle and high school students and their adult mentors the opportunity to work and create together to solve a common problem. All skill levels are welcomed and needed, technical and non-technical. At LHSN, Mrs. Hill and Mr. Kersten will serve as coaches and Boeing will furnish mentors. Student applications were due by today. Any adults interested in helping or sponsoring should please contact Mrs. Hill. Let the fun (and learning) begin!
The Auction Boutique is Sunday, Sept. 11, 1-4 p.m. in the LN Crusader Cafe!
Don’t miss out on this fun way to purchase your family’s donation item for the 38th Annual Lutheran High School Association (LHSA) Dinner Auction, which financially supports Lutheran North and Lutheran South.
As in years past, EVERY FAMILY is asked to donate an item to the LHSA Auction. The Auction Boutique is a vendor fair, making it a perfect time to shop for yourself, the holidays, or your family’s auction donation. Each guest who purchases an item for the Auction at the Auction Boutique will receive an entry in a drawing for a $100 VISA gift card and their LHSN student will receive a large cookie at school.
If you need ideas of what to purchase as your family’s donation to the LHSA Auction, each vendor will have an “Auction Wish List” on display with a variety of prices to choose from. Participating vendors include Tastefully Simple, Thirty-one, Dot the i, The Pampered Chef, Norwex, Dove Chocolate Discoveries, Celebrate Together, LN Spirit Wear, PartyLite, Organo Gold, Touchstone Crystal, Scentsy, Usborne Books, Perfectly Posh, and Cards for Cash (gift cards). The Auction Boutique is a perfect opportunity for moms, daughters, grandmothers, aunts and girlfriends to shop, snack, and fellowship – all while supporting Lutheran North and the Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis. Hope to see you at the Auction Boutique!
Would you like to join our many volunteers for the Auction? We always need extra helping hands. To learn about Auction volunteer opportunities, complete the “volunteer online” form on the website, or contact Karen Scheer at email@example.com or 314-833-2910. Time spent will apply towards the Crusader Servant Volunteer program (see article below).

Is the thought of paying for college concerning you?
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) moves to an October 1 release date this year, as it now will use prior-year data. That means current seniors and families will use 2015 tax information to complete the FAFSA.
Find out more about how the FAFSA can help you pay for college, along with other information about paying for college at our COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID NIGHT on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the Crusader Cafe. A financial aid specialist from Saint Louis University will be our presenter. This evening is open to all families, but will be especially helpful to junior and senior parents.
