Congratulations to all the Crusaders named on the 2nd Semester Honor Roll. A total of 53 students achieved a grade point average of 3.75 or above, with 60 students earning a GPA between 3.2 and 3.74. Over 43% of the student body is on the Honor Roll! We commend all of them for using their God-given talents to the best of their ability.

Track Success at State
The Crusader Track and Field teams had exceptional seasons this year. The veteran boys’ squad took 10 events to State and scored in 3 events.
The mostly sophomore girls’ squad took 7 events to State. The 4 x 2 and 4 x 1 relays both finished runner-up in Class 3. Sophomore Jordyn White medaled in 4 events and led the team to a 6th place State finish for the second year in a row.
Summer – a Great Time to Complete “Saved to Serve” Hours
All Lutheran North students complete Saved to Serve hours each year, following the example of service by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The summer months can be a convenient time for students to complete some or all of the required hours. Be looking for volunteer opportunities!
Be sure to complete the new form available in the office, outside room 207, in OnCampus, and on the school’s website here. Any questions regarding the Saved to Serve program can be directed to Mr. Dixon, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Note: There are still openings to join the Feed My Starving Children pack at Lutheran Church of the Atonement on July 15. Advance registration must be done here!
Is Your Student Reading?
All LHSN students are required to participate in summer reading. Freshmen and sophomores read two designated books; juniors and seniors can choose books from a list. Students will be tested on their books on the first day of class (Aug. 9). Each LHSN family should have already received summer reading information in the mail. Parents, please encourage your child in his/her reading! Reading lists can be accessed here.
Reading Camp: Freshmen and sophomores have the option to sign up for Summer Reading Camp at LHSN July 17-21. Participation is optional and the fee is $60 ($70 after July 1) for the five half-day sessions. Students will fulfill their summer reading requirement (books provided) during camp, and will be exempt from the test on the first day of school. Click here for information and registration form.
Personal Counseling Services
Ms. Michelle Marshall, LHSN counselor, is available throughout the summer months to assist students and families who are having everyday life challenges/struggles, as well as crisis situations. Individual or group counseling, consultation and presentations can be provided. This free service is provided by Lutheran Family and Children’s Services.
Ms. Marshall is available for walk-ins on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00-3:00 and at any other time by appointment. Please keep this service in mind and do not hesitate to contact Ms. Marshall. She can be reached via email, email@example.com, or cell phone, 314-406-6766.
Remember! Lutheran North requires all students to wear uniforms from Fischer’s School Uniform Store, 69 Florissant Oaks Shopping Center (63031), 314-921-9972.
Or, you may shop for used uniforms at the Lutheran Resale Shop, open 10 am-3 pm Monday through Saturday at 6701 West Florissant, 314-389-9970.
SENIORS are encouraged to take their no-longer-needed uniforms to the Lutheran Resale Shop, or simply bring them to LHSN. Thank you!
From the School Nurse
All incoming NEW students, entering grades 9-12 are required to have a physical done by their doctor after Feb. 1, 2017 and submitted to the nurse by August 1. A copy of the physical form can be downloaded from the LHSN Website or obtained from the main office. If your student’s doctor prefers to use his/her office form, that will be acceptable. Please include any Health Care Plans for treatment of special health conditions such as Asthma, Food Allergies with Epi-pen, Diabetes, etc.
In addition, all incoming NEW students entering grades 9-12 are required by the Missouri state immunization law to submit a complete and up-to-date shot record to the school nurse by the first day of school. According to the Missouri state law, a student may not attend classes without proper immunization, so documentation of the shots (shot record) must be given to the school nurse by August 1, 2017. Students who have not submitted a shot record by the first day of school will not be able to attend school, according to the law.
All SENIOR students are now required by the new Missouri immunization law to have a second Meningococcal vaccine if the first vaccine was received before 16 years of age. A letter with this new requirement was mailed in spring to the parents/guardians of upcoming senior students. Call your student’s doctor now to inquire if your student needs a second booster shot and make an appointment to receive the shot now. Any incoming senior student who has not received the shot or does not submit documentation of having received the shot, will not be able to attend school on the first day of school, according to the law.
Thank you for complying with these mandated requirements!
Sports Physicals for Returning* Students
All students planning to play sports anytime during the 2017-2018 school year must have a current physical (dated after Feb. 1, 2017) to try out, practice, or play. This is a state requirement each year.
Once again, LHSN is offering the opportunity for returning students to get a physical here at Lutheran North. Dr. Tony Miller with Esquire Sports Medicine will be completing sports physicals at Lutheran North on Friday, July 21 from 10:00 to 2:00 in room 111. Cost for a physical is $20, payable by cash or check made payable to Esquire Sports Medicine.
*NOTE: All incoming freshmen and transfer students need to obtain their physicals from their private physicians. Please see article above.
Forty members of the incoming Class of 2021 spent Thursday, June 2 at Camp Wartburg in Waterloo, Illinois. They had a great day together with 6 student ambassadors and 6 faculty/staff members team building through devotions, high ropes course, trust exercises, and field games. New friendships were formed and our new Crusaders are ready to learn how to do things “The Crusader Way!” #ItsAGreatDayToBeACrusader
