First semester teacher conferences will be Thursday, Sept. 27, between 1:00 and 8:00. All parents are invited to make appointments with any of their child’s teachers. Parents of students who are experiencing any difficulty in class are especially encouraged to request conference time with the respective teacher. Parents who have students with failing grades are expected to make an appointment with that teacher. Current grade status is always available through OnCampus.
Appointments must be made in advance by using the link at the end of this article to access an electronic form. Conferences must be requested by Sept. 14.
After conferences are requested, we will schedule appointments. An appointment post card giving time and room location of conferences will be mailed to homes on Sept. 21. Watch for it in your mailbox!
We will have two half-days of school on Thursday, Sept. 27 and Friday, Sept. 28. Dismissal will be at 11:30 both days; please make arrangements for your student to be taken home. Athletic practices will generally be held immediately following classes on both days. Please check with coaches.
Seniors Lead by Example
Once each month, Crusader seniors are treated to breakfast before school for some bonding time and reinforcement of leadership skills. At each breakfast, seniors who have been nominated by teachers or peers are recognized for displaying any of the five leadership characteristics taught at their Leadership Retreat last May: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Encourage the Heart, Enable Others to Act, and Challenge the Process.
At the September breakfast this morning (Sept. 7), the following seniors (pictured left to right) were recognized for various leadership actions : Aaron Fackler, Katie Laffold, and Isaac Stout. Congratulations and thanks to these leaders!
Pep Zone at LHSN!
Fox2 News in the Morning will televise Pep Zone at Lutheran North on Friday, Sept. 14! It will be an early morning pep rally, so please encourage your student to be at school by 6:00 a.m. that day. We need all students at this event, which is sure to be a blast! We look forward to all Crusaders showing their school pride to the rest of St. Louis.
We know high school students love food, so we will serve a FREE pancake breakfast to all who come to Pep Zone. Thank you for your support!
Ladies, the Crusader Mothers’ Club meets this Saturday, Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. All Moms are invited and encouraged to attend! Please bring your own drink; a light snack will be provided. Besides getting acquainted with each other, there will be a guest speaker from Thrivent.
Faces & Our Cultures
Faces & Our Cultures is a 7.5 week cultural exchange program between Guatemala and the U.S. We are aware of several high school students from Guatemala interested in serving as cultural ambassadors and guest students at LHSN this fall. LHSN is looking for short-term host families for these students.
An informational meeting will be held at LHSN on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 6:00 p.m. Please come and learn more about the Faces & Our Cultures program and this international opportunity. You may contact Mr. Calvin Smith in the LHSA office, 833-2907, with any questions.
Shopping Boutique!-Sept. 16
Please join us for an afternoon of fellowship, snacks, and SHOPPING!
The Shopping Boutique will be held on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 1:00-4:00 pm in the Lutheran North Crusader Cafe. The Shopping Boutique is an annual vendor fair and makes a perfect time to shop for yourself, the holidays, or your family’s donation to the Lutheran High School Association Gala in November.
Two vendor spaces are still available and we’d love to fill them with LHSN parents or alumnae. If interested, please contact Heather Lankford, 314-337-6258 or email@example.com as soon as possible. Look for a list of vendors in next week’s Cross Copy Weekly!
TJ’s Pizza & Dessert Sale
Parents! If you haven’t seen the order form and letter that was sent home on Monday, ask your student for it!

Return the form – with payment – by Tuesday, Sept. 25. Checks should be payable to LHSN. Orders are picked up on Tuesday, Oct. 9, between 3:00 and 6:00 in the Counseling Center.

Be sure to include your name and phone number on the front of the order form, and list your FREE product choices also on the front.
