Way to Go, Crusaders!
Lutheran North students do not all “take the summer off.” Many Crusaders applied for and were accepted into academic or leadership programs, enrolled in summer enrichment classes, attended prestigious sports or scouting camps, or volunteered their services.
We commend all of these for being eager to learn, do, and expand their horizons! For a complete listing of students who reported their summer activities to Mrs. McFarland in the Counseling Center, click here.
Seniors Lead by Example
Each month at the Senior Breakfast, some seniors are recognized for displaying the five leadership characteristics taught at the Leadership Retreat: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Encourage the Heart, Enable Others to Act, and Challenge the Process. Seniors can be nominated by their teachers or their peers.
At the September breakfast, the following seniors were recognized for various leadership actions: (front row) Taylor Ewing, Gabbi Gilmore, Precious Clark, (back row) Grayson Knight, Jake Thompson, Eric Webster, Matt Zeuschel, Olaoluwa Animashaun, and Lloyd Abernathy. Congratulations, leaders!
Auction Boutique this Sunday!
All ladies are invited to the Crusader Cafe on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 1-4 p.m.
The Auction Boutique is a vendor fair, making it the perfect time to shop for yourself, the holidays, or your family’s donation to the Auction.
As in years past, EVERY FAMILY is asked to donate an item to the LHSA Auction. The Auction Boutique is one way to do this. It’s also a perfect opportunity for moms, daughters, grandmothers, aunts and girlfriends to shop, snack, and fellowship – all while supporting Lutheran North and the Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis. Click here for a Boutique flyer.
As a way to say “thank you,” each guest who purchases an item for the Auction at the Auction Boutique will receive an entry in a drawing for a $100 VISA gift card and their LHSN student will receive a large cookie at school.
Pizza & Dessert Order Form
The LHSN Music Department is sponsoring a TJ’s Pizza, Dessert and Cookie Dough sale. Students have been given an order form and instruction letter. If you haven’t seen it, ask your student! We encourage you to share the form with your friends, family, and co-workers. Return the form – with payment – by Sept. 26. Checks should be payable to “LHSN.” Orders will be picked up on Monday, Oct. 10, between 3:00 and 6:00 in the Counseling Center.
Sales incentives include 1 FREE item for every 10 items sold and the LHSN student who sells the most items will receive a KINDLE FIRE! See the letter stapled to the form for details. Be sure to include your name and phone number on the front of the order form, and list your free product choices also on the front. A printable order form can be accessed here.
Tip of the Week: Messaging Preferences
When LHSN needs to communicate with parents, we use SchoolMessenger – a system that sends out voice, email, and text messaging using the contact information we have on file for you. But you have options!
Please watch this new SchoolMessenger video that explains how parents can set their preferences for school notifications. The video is only 70 seconds long and gives you the website you’ll need to select your preferences. Click here.
Is the thought of paying for college concerning you?
Find out how the FAFSA can help you pay for college, along with other information about paying for college at our COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID NIGHT on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the Crusader Cafe. A financial aid specialist from Saint Louis University will be the presenter. This evening is open to all families, but will be especially helpful to junior and senior parents.
Lutheran Resale Shop
The Lutheran Resale Shop, located at 6701 W. Florissant, is having a store-wide half-price sale on Saturday, Sept. 10, 10:00-3:00.
Thanks to everyone who has supported the Lutheran Resale Shop with donations and/or purchases. The shop proceeds go to Lutheran Senior Services and Lutheran Family & Children’s Services, with uniform sales benefitting LHSN.
Photo retakes will be taken Tuesday, Sept. 27. Those who were absent for the first session should be sure to pick up a packet in the main office and sign up to have their picture taken Sept. 27.
Those who have already ordered a photo package and want their picture retaken should also sign up in the office and be sure to bring their original photos on Sept. 27.
Have you seen the 2016 Niche School Rankings? The annual Niche Report explores public and private schools across the country. Perhaps they are not the most scientifically accurate, but the rankings are viewed with interest and the comments say a lot. All LHSN parents and students are welcome to participate in the Niche survey and add their comments. Take a look at LHSN’s ranking of 35th Best Private School in Missouri here.
Christian Friends of New Americans is sponsoring their 9th Annual Trivia event to raise funds for refugee work. Silent auction baskets, gift certificates, tickets and coupons, and/or items (new or gently used) are needed now! Contact Carol (314) 517-8513 or email@example.com.
